Ode to Hercules...the Caterpillar

Life ended so young and
eaten by ants so bitter
Life ended so soon
for Hercules the Caterpillar

Death on the sidewalk,
red ants all around.
Death in the sunshine,
completely unsound.

We tried to rescue him,
spare his dear life.
We tried to save him,
from such strife.

Failure took over
from an attempt to save.
Failure of life,
for one so brave.
